London, Copenhagen 22 September 2008 – The combination of the UK’s number one local search engine Yell.com and mobile local search company mobilePeople has been recognised as "Best Location-Based Service" at the prestigious annual Mobile Search Awards in London. The award winning application provides map-based information allowing users to locate different businesses and services throughout the UK straight from their mobiles.

Yell.com Mobile Maps is based on mobilePeople’s liquid MAPs+ product, a downloadable Java application. It enables users to not only search any of the 2.3m business available on the Yell.com database, but to also locate any address in the UK, providing a map displaying both walking and driving directions. Unlike other mobile map applications Yell.com allows users to save business names, addresses and contact details directly to the phone contact list. This means it only takes a simple click to call through. This information can also be forwarded to the user’s other contacts via text.
